Baltimore National Heritage Area Launches “2023 It’s a SNAP!” Baltimore Photo Contest
Nine-Month Initiative Aims to Capture the Best of Baltimore, Entries Due December 31st
Baltimore, MD (April 5, 2023)—Today, The Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA) launched “2023 It’s a SNAP!,” a photography contest for photographers of varying levels of expertise to capture photographs that showcase the best of Baltimore. Photographs must be taken within the BNHA boundaries (see map) and submitted electronically by December 31, 2023 to win the $500 gift card grand prize.
The contest is open to all amateur or professional photographers over 16 years old. However, entrants under 18 years of age must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate in the contest.
Winning photographers will receive prizes and a special Baltimore National Heritage Area promotional product in 2024. The best images will be showcased on BNHA’s social media channels.
“We are so excited to expose people to the Baltimore National Heritage Area and showcase the best of our footprint through this nine-month initiative,” said Shauntee Daniels, executive director of BNHA. “The time frame is intentional, as we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to capture city life in every season.”
This year, BNHA is looking for what makes Baltimore, “Charm City”—the PEOPLE. Therefore, participants are encouraged to capture and submit photos of people in many facets, from attending festivals and recreational events or enjoying the park to completing daily chores, walking to work, or enjoying a meal at a local restaurant. However, participants are encouraged not to use professional models, but rather people who live, work, and play in Baltimore.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a $500 gift card, with the First and Second Place winners receiving $400 and $300 gift cards, respectively. A $50 gift card will be given to a photographer deserving of an Honorable Mention. Photographers can only win one prize per contest.
