Programs and Projects Director Brings Wealth of Institutional Knowledge to Leadership Role
The Board of the Directors of the Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA) has selected Shauntee Daniels as executive director of the non-profit organization. Daniels has held a number of positions with BNHA for the past eleven years, most recently as director of programs and partnerships.
“We are delighted Shauntee has accepted this leadership role with the heritage area,” said BNHA Board President, James Piper Bond. “She possesses an excellent breadth of institutional knowledge that will ensure a smooth transition. Beyond that, she has always been dedicated to the mission of the heritage area and will bring bold, new initiatives to help our partners promote and enhance heritage tourism in Baltimore.”
Since 2008, Daniels has coordinated the heritage area’s urban rangers and the multiple tours offered to heritage travelers. In 2017, she spearheaded BNHA’s Heritage Neighborhood Program and the 2018 launch of the program’s Neighborhood Placemaking Grants. In addition to her passion for history, Shauntee brings to the heritage area experience in publications management and corporate operations.
“I’m filling some pretty big shoes, but I’m ready walk out of those shoes and into my own,” Daniels said. “Representing the heritage area is really a wonderful opportunity. I look forward serving Baltimore’s heritage and cultural community.”
Daniels replaces Jeff Buchheit, who accepted the executive director position for the non-profit that manages the tall ship Pride of Baltimore II.
The mission of the Baltimore National Heritage Area is to promote, preserve, and enhance Baltimore’s historic and cultural legacy and natural resources for current and future generations. Visit www.explorebaltimore.org for more information about the Baltimore National Heritage Area.
