WHAT:

In honor of ADT’s 149th anniversary, the Baltimore National Heritage Areas (BNHA) will dedicate

American District Telegraph, or ADT, was incorporated on August 14, 1874 in Baltimore City as a

telegraph delivery business. Thirty years later when telephones replaced telegraphs, the company

pivoted to guard service with ADT Watchmen patrolling commercial and government facilities.

Through the decades, ADT innovated new technology to protect and connect customers, eventually

providing residential security in the 1980s.
